Victoria Ball is a British artist and illustrator, b.1980. She began her training in painting and drawing at Cheltenham College of Art in the late nineties and later studied at Falmouth College of Arts, gaining first class honours in Illustration.
Her latest body of work explores the shape of her local landscape, responding to the sense of place with colour and texture, in a non figurative way.
I am interested in the harmonising and juxtaposition of colour. Breaking down these landscape forms into simpler shapes brings this into sharper focus for me. I like the idea that a painting can move in and out of abstraction, I’m not concerned with a piece being either one or the other.
